Stories are mainly longer - as the name says - texts, which I have written during the years. They start from year 2016, when I bought Ariadne.
Reading texts in chronological order may be more logical, the order of course depends on the reader.
Here few stories from the early years:
Here you also find a great story of the sailing from Hamburg to Finland.
s/y Ariadne

Ariadne in the year 2022
The Ariadne is a steel-hulled sailboat designed and built by Paul Böhling from 1964. The ruffle and deck are made of wood, the steel deck has only deck arches, i.e. not the typically rusting steel deck under the wooden deck. Good.
How this all started
Originally published in Latest Bulletin issue 04/2016:
Johanna has been under our control for almost 20 years, and occasionally I have checked boats for sale of all shapes. There have been quite a few S&S involved, the materials being wood, plastic and aluminum, but they didn’t quite hit me and that one wooden and another aluminum that rose my interest were on the wrong side of the Atlantic. A couple of years ago, a teak cutter built in 36 hit me so hard that it was visited twice. In the UK it was but the price level was, after all, a little different from what realism would suggest.
Ariadne during 2023
Bilge reworked
When Ariadne got up in the fall of last year, the engine also got up. The purpose was to renovate it in the dark evenings of winter and thus ensure that its renovation would not affect Ariadne’s spring renovation schedule.
Ariadne 2016-2024
Review of the past eight years
A little over eight years ago, in October 2016, I signed the deed of sale in Hamburg, which transferred Ariadne to me.
Kiel - Inkoo - part 2
Bornholm, Hasle
What has happened so far: Sailing Ariadne from Hamburg to Inkoo, Finland, is almost halfway. Ariadne arrived in Hasle in Bornholm two days after departing from Kiel, crewed by Humes, Aimo, Jari, Markku, Piccu and Tuomas.
Kiel - Inkoo - part 1
Aridane at Kiel Sporthafen Durstenbrookissa
Ariadne arrived from Hamburg to Kiel on Thursday 4.5. evening and OIav packed his backpack and left for home. Personally, I was waiting for the crew to arrive on Friday morning, which were Aimo, Jari, Markku, Piccu and Aimonpoika Tuomas. The initial optimistic plan was to get off the harbour as early as Friday after the food stocks were full but especially the engine fuel problems had to be resolved before departure and it knew about additional purchases and work that took practically the whole Friday and Saturday morning.
